The design by Canadian artist Simon Ng resembles on of the 12 Chinese Zodiac animals: the ox. This animal is a representation of luck, prosperity and stamina. People born in the Year of Ox are considered to be stubborn, but loyal.
The reverse shows an ox in motion – the animal is walking. In the background, there are mountains and trees. In the foreground, one can see the traditional Chinese coins which are meant to bring good fortune. Above the image, there is the legal tender value of the piece – 150 dollars and the date of issue. Below it, one can notice the place of issue and a word in Chinese.
The obverse of the coin includes the effigy of Her Majesty Elizabeth II together with the proof and the inscription “D.G Regina”.
Each of the coins is delivered in a beauty presentation box in red. It is cushioned with black fabric. All the boxes include numbered certificates of authenticity.
