Another piece in the Provincial Floral series of pure gold coins is now available. This time the theme is Western Red Lily – one of the most beautiful flowers in Canada. This plant, known also as the Prairie Lily, used to grow in meadows and semi-wooden areas of Canada. It was used by Native Canadians to soothe bruises and wounds. The tea made of its parts was to treat different ailments.
The reverse of the coin includes the image of the plant adopted as Saskatchewan`s floral emblem in 1941. It was created by Canadian botanical illustrator Dr. A.K. Hellum and depicts two stems of Western Red Lily. Each of them is blooming.
The obverse of the piece depicts the effigy of Her Majesty Elizabeth II designed by Dora de P dery-Hun, together with the place and date of issue and the coin`s legal tender value of 350 dollars.
Each piece is delivered in an elegant presentation box cushioned with black fabric and the brand of the Royal Canadian Mint included on the lid. A numbered Certificate of Authenticity supplements the set.
Limited mintage of 1635 pieces worldwide makes it a unique collectible.
