The reverse of the coin includes the image of two colored white lion cubes playing in the grass in the savannah. Above the animals, there is the inscription “Cubes” embedded in floral, decorative elements. In the design The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark appears.

The obverse depicts  the image of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley, the legal tender of 50 cents and the place and date of issue.
