2016 $20 FINE SILVER COIN LITTLE CREATURES: SNAIL
Natural wonders are also the tiniest ones. Many of them can be found in backyards and gardens, but also on this silver coin!
Captured in Murano glass with paint and engraving for a stunning glimpse, the image of the snail shows the secret world of tiny wonders of nature.
The reverse includes the design by Canadian artist Maurice Gervais. It captures the delicate beauty of the snail in the Canadian landscape. Pain used over engravings adds a life-like quality to the branch and leaves of mountain maple (Acer spicatum). Its saw-toothed edges loom large in the background which allows for a size comparison of the colourful Venetian glass element recreating the colours and likeness of the snail`s shell. Each of the Venetian glass elements are not the same. Its uniqueness is emphasized by handwork by master glassmaker Giuliano Donaggio of Murano, Italy.
Each coin is perched in a maroon clamshell box with a graphic beauty box, including the label of the Royal Canadian Mint.
