Encouraged by the success of the first Kimberley Sunset coin (released in 2015), the Perth Mint introduces the second coin in order to complete the duo. The piece includes the image of the Kimberley Sunset design and its set with a fine white diamond to show the light of the dawn of the new day.
Kimberley is the home to vast wildlife sanctuaries, spectacular gorges, crystal blue oceans, caves and rock formations. It is a land of breathtaking contrasts. It is the host of the most beautiful sunrises which light the dawn sky with hues of radiant gold, orange, grey and smoky purple. This magnificent lightshow illuminates the horizon with fiery light, making the start of the day truly magical.
The reverse of the coin includes the boab tree amid a Kimberley landscape at sunrise. The iconic boab tree, which is native to the Kimberley region, has a large rotund base and a network of branches. The image of boab backlit by the sunrise is one of symbols of the region.
The design is supplemented by the blue diamond, which embedded next to horizon, is to symbolize the rising sun. The reverse includes the inscription KIMBERLEY SUNRISE, the 2016 year-date and the Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
The obverse depicts the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination.
Each coin is delivered in a beautiful presentation packaging with a numbered certificate of authenticity included.
