The Wedge-Tailed Eagle is one of the biggest birds of prey in Australia. It is also one of the most enormous eagles in the world. It lives in Tasmania and southern New Guinea. It can be found from sea level areas to alpine regions, though they favor forested land and open country, to rainforests and coastal heaths. The bird is known to soar through the sky for hours.
The reverse of the coin includes the Wedge-Tailed Eagle sitting on the tree branch. The animal is surrounded by a silver border with the inscription “Australian Wedge-Tailed Eagle”, the date of issue and the proof of the coin.
