The Kookaburra is a terrestrial tree kingfisher, native to Australia and New Guinea. Its name is a loanword from guuguubarra, an onomatopoeic from Wiradjuri. Sounds made by Kookaburra resemble human laughter.
The reverse of the coin shows the image of the Kookaburra sitting on a wooden pole. In the background there are fields with crops and a naked tree.
The obverse of the piece depicts the image of Queen Elizabeth II, the face value of 1 dollar and the place of mintage – Australia.
Each coin is housed in an elegant etui. A certificate of authenticity is attached. The package is decorated with amazing graphics of the bird on the lid.
