This set contains one of each of the five Australian Sea Life II Series coins, Hawksbill Turtle, Starfish, Surgeonfish, Octopus, Manta Ray. Five new inhabitants of Australia’s underwater wonder world are featured on Australian Sea Life II – The Reef series.
Making a splash on the first of five new 1/2oz silver proof coins, the Hawksbill Turtle is a beautiful but endangered animal that lives an extraordinary life. Juveniles spend anywhere between five and ten years simply drifting around the ocean until they’re ready to settle down among Australia’s tropical reefs.
This solitary sea turtle can be found in the coral reefs of northern Australia. Listed as endangered, the Hawksbill Turtle matures at thirty years of age and has a lifespan of up to fifty years. An adult Hawksbill can grow up to 1 metre in length.
The coin’s reverse depicts a Hawksbill Turtle in colour and includes The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark. Incorporated into the design are the inscriptions AUSTRALIAN SEA LIFE II – THE REEF and HAWKSBILL TURTLE.
The coin is housed in a display case with a stunningly illustrated coral reef shipper. Each shipper joins with other shippers in the series to create a superbly illustrated underwater scene.
