The endearing pygmy possum coin is the fourth release in the Australian Opal Series. Showcasing nocturnal Australian animals created in pure Australian opal, this unique concept is simply dazzling.
The coin’s reverse incorporates an inner panel design of a pygmy possum on a banksia branch, detailed in pure Australian opal. The outer panel of the coin depicts banksia leaves and blossoms, a waxing gibbous moon and the Southern Cross – a renowned star group which is only visible in the Southern hemisphere.
The 2013 Pygmy Possum 1oz Silver Proof Coin is presented in a prestigious display case with a light, which turns on as the case is opened to represent the moon shining down on the nocturnal creature.
